If you are reading this then chances are, you probably self tan or are at least interested in starting. I am not an expert on self tanners by any means, however I feel that I have tried more self tanning products than the average person. Today I am going to be sharing my fave & not so fave products for self tanning.
Why I use self tanner: I am one of those girls that relies on self tanner and I am not ashamed to admit it. Why? I DO NOT USE TANNING BEDS! Growing up my mom used tanning beds. I always remember going with her to the tanning spa and thinking it was so scary to see her get into what I thought was a scary capsule with “space lights” 😂 But don’t worry, thats not my reason why I have never got into a tanning bed! Later down the road, my mom ended up having little white spots pop up on her skin where she had lost pigment. I honestly believe they came from not only the tanning beds but from laying out in the sun without SPF as well. She also had a couple incidents where she had to have cancerous spots removed from her skin due to exposure to tanning beds and the sun. Long story short, my mother stopped using tanning beds and made me promise I would never use them either… and I never have and never will. I also thing self tanning is not only a safer way but a quicker way to get glowy skin. From tanning foams to bronzing creams… there are so many products you can use to help achieve that natural sun kissed look quickly and safely.
Self Tanning Products I love & Why
1.Loving Tan 2 HR Express Self Tanning Mousse: This is the best if you want something quickly/last minute. I also love this one because it doesn’t have that weird typical self tanning smell that most products have.
My color: dark Price: $39.95-59.95 depending on OZ
2. St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse : This is such a good option if you want a tan that is natural and gradual. This is the first self tan product I ever used and I have stuck with it since!
My color: only comes in one color Price: $18-42 depending on OZ
3. Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse: If you are not looking to splurge on high end self tanner… I don’t blame you. This is the best drug store option in my opinion. I think it works great and quick and isn’t too fake looking.
My color: deep bronze Price: $13.99
4. Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer : I use this lotion ALL OVER every single night after showering. This helps to keep your self tan around a little longer. You can also use this alone for a gradual tan overtime by using it every night. It is very natural looking, nothing too dramatic, doesn’t leave any streaks or dark marks. It honestly is just like a regular lotion except it gives you a little extra glow. And IT SMELLS AMAZING!!!!
My color: medium to tan Price: $10.99
5. Loving Tan Deluxe Self Tanning Applicator Mitt: This is my ALL TIME favorite mitt to use when applying any kind of self tanning foam. It is a little pricy but it is SO worth it. The quality is great so it can last a really long time. I also feel that it helps me to get the product on my skin smoothly where it looks natural and not streaky. After using it I usually just rinse it with warm water, squeezing the product out like a sponge, and then letting it air dry.
Self Tanning Products I DO NOT use & Why
1.Loreal Sublime Bronze Self Tanning Towelettes: I used these one time in high school and ended up breaking out in hives. My mom actually had to come up to the school to bring me bring me Benadryl (LOL). I actually think they worked great for what they were… I was just obviously either allergic to them or a product used in them was affecting my skin.
2.Loreal Sublime Bronze Hydrating Self Tanning Water Mousse: I saw one of my fave bloggers, Emily Gemma post about this product so I figured I would give it a try. Thankfully, this product didn’t give me a rash! BUT I felt it simply just did not work the way I wanted it too. I used it a couple times and just felt that I didn’t ever really see a difference in my skin color. However, this may not be the case for everyone… that is just my opinion on it. It does have a good smell to it which is something I wish all self tanners could have.
I would love to hear everyone else’s favorite self tanning products as well! These products I shared are just my personal favorites but i know everyone skin type is different but i hope this post helps! Thanks for reading & if you made it this far… You’re Amazing!
